What is the Coronavirus and why is it difficult to restrain it?
Coronavirus is common in animals and has some forms that don’t even affect humans. This same virus is responsible for causing two well-known diseases named SARS and MERS in the outbreaks of 2002 and 2012 respectively.
Due to complicated mutation capabilities these viruses become very unpredictable. This feature of the virus makes it a mystery for the scientists who are constantly trying to sequence its genetic material for vaccine production.
Transmission of the virus and common symptoms
The latest diseases caused by Coronavirus has been named COVID-19 and is said to have caused the pneumonia-like condition in its victims. Like the others this Coronavirus is said to have been transmitted from wildlife to humans.
Its being said that the virus made its way to its human host from a seafood market located in Wuhan province of China. This new coronavirus is much more dangerous than the seasonal flu that has a mortality rate of about 1% while on the other hand, SARS has got 10% more in its stock.

These statistics give a clear indication of what will happen if the outbreak became pandemic or worldwide. Shortness of breath, fever, and cough etc are common symptoms related to COVID19.
It can also cause pneumonia and result in organ failure. This is a viral illness, and conventional antibiotics and flu medications are not going to have much effect upon the coronavirus.
Coronavirus is a pandemic, says WHO
The World Health organization a few weeks ago officially declared coronavirus as a pandemic as it spread hastily throughout the globe. China has declared its victory over COVID-19 and has witnessed significant drop in corona cases. This was not easy to achieve and the Chinese made great efforts in suppressing the virus.

Old aged citizens, who have got poor health conditions in advance are more likely to receive the virus. Healthcare workers who are constantly dealing with patients are more vulnerable to the virus and they must take extra precautions while dealing with the victims.
The most serious issue is the immediate production of vaccines against the virus which conventionally takes processes that might sometimes require years to complete.
Some precautionary steps suggested by the World Health Organization for protecting ourselves from the deadly virus.
To protect ourselves from the deadly Coronavirus the World Health Organization suggests the following procedures to minimize the risks of getting infected;
- Cover mouth with tissue paper or just bring your elbow in front of your mouth before sneezing.
- The used tissue must be consequently thrown into the trash
- Its compulsory to wash hands properly with soap or hand sanitizer.
- Sufficient distance should be maintained from people who are coughing and sneezing.
Coronavirus is a rare killer
Even though the virus has made enough fame over the past few weeks, some top doctors consider it to be a seldom killer and believe that there are fewer chances of getting the virus while on the course of routine activity unless you came dangerously close to an affected person.
It was part of a long debate on the social media that virus gets transmitted from pets like cats and dogs but World Health Organization says that pets are less likely to transmit the virus.
It’s safe to visit restaurants and eat local Chinese cuisine and there are no chronicles of transmissions from such sites. The virus remains a mystery and until now one can hardly speculate about the potentials of the virus.
